In this case?

Our client, a UK market leading web design organisation, chose intabase to redevelop their existing content management system (CMS) using ASP .NET.

Very early in the process, we identified that the optimum choice for our client was an XML based system. The use of XML data and XML schemas for data storage and application definition allowed us to deliver an extremely flexible application to our customer; it also gave us latitude in the system design that would ordinarily have been inaccessible.

Using XML as a base storage medium and data definition, XSLT was the obvious choice for transforming the CMS data into ASP.NET XHTML pages. Allowing us to permanently separate content and presentation in both the CMS system and the web content produced by it as well as facilitating W3C compliance.

Results

The result exceeded even our own expectations. The project was of course delivered on time to a fixed budget. What our XML based approach afforded our client was flexibility in their data structure that now allows them to map client data structure requirements on each new project in a matter of minutes.
