Installation and Getting Started

To start the Contax installation program insert your blue Contax CD-ROM, if the installation program does not start automatically then go to Start >> Run and type d:\setup.exe replace (d) for your CD drive letter. 

The following screen should now appear, if it does press Next>>: -

On the terms of use page, press Next>> if you have read and agreed the terms.

When you have agreed the terms you need choose which directory to install Contax to (circled in red). It is best to leave the default option and press Next>>. 

Note: It will then ask if you want to create the directory as below, press Yes to proceed.

Now press start to commence copying the Contax files to your computer.

Note : The installation program might ask during installation "A file being copied is older than the file it replaces", if this occurs it is recommended to keep the existing file.  

After all of the files have been copied the screen above will appear, if it does not then repeat the whole process from the beginning of this page, otherwise press Next>> and then Exit.

After the Contax installation is complete you be prompted to install "Microsoft Data Objects", for Contax to work Microsoft Data Objects must be installed first. If the box below or something similar appears then it is likely you already have Microsoft Data Objects installed and you can skip to the getting started section. 

If the installation page for Microsoft Data Objects appears then follow on-screen instructions, choose yes when asked "Do you want to restart your computer?". When your computer has restarted you are ready to get started. For help and information on Microsoft Data Objects visit www.microsoft.com.

Getting Started 

When you have successfully installed Contax and want to get started double click the Contax icon on your desktop or start menu.

When Contax opens for the first time the following screen should appear: -

The welcome screen has two options: -

training mode for new users - In training mode the system will prompt with Contax helpers that will explain certain tasks and help you create your first clients, products and web pages. 

normal mode for more experienced users - In normal mode the helpers will not appear when you click the main navigation tree. In normal mode you can start helpers by right clicking icons on the tree and selecting helper from the popup menu.

When you have decided which mode to use the system in then press ok to go to the main page.

To get started just click the relevant section of the screen, on on the text or the icons on the left and right.
